Where are they now?

From Intern to Full-Time Marketing Employee

At MHP/Team SI, we have several former interns who found success and became full-time employees, including Sharon Tallach Vogelpohl, President & CEO of the company. Just think — this could be you one day soon!

Sharon Tallach Vogelpohl -- from 1994 summer marketing intern to 2023 President & CEO

Sharon Tallach Vogelpohl started her career at MHP/Team SI as a summer intern. Just a few years later, Sharon was in charge of opening a Northwest Arkansas office and eventually became President and CEO of the agency.

“If you’re at a full-service agency, no matter what you think you’re interested in or what you are specializing in along your educational path, take the opportunity and initiative to explore as many agency disciplines as you can.

Even if you have to stalk the department director and ask for a before-work coffee, a lunch or an after-work beverage. Agencies (the good ones) are fantastic, evolving, growing, innovating organisms. Explore all areas. You might spark a new passion or path! You never know where that path may take you, from intern to partner to President & CEO.”

Caleb Byrd began his career at MHP/Team SI as a summer intern in 2017. He’s now the agency’s marketing manager, helping to build the agency brand and acquire new business.

“My summer internship at MHP/Team SI was one of the more impactful experiences of my college career. I was able to take what I’d learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world situations. Even more than that, I was forced to learn new skills and try new things on the fly.

If you’re considering applying for a summer marketing internship, don’t be afraid to take initiative, ask questions and make mistakes. You’ll learn more through hands-on experience than through any other medium. Chances are high that you’ll surprise yourself, learn quickly and set yourself up to succeed in the future.”

Kelsey Blackmon - from 2016 summer marketing intern to 2023 senior account executive

Kelsey Blackmon used her summer internship as a springboard into a career at MHP/Team SI. She’s now a senior account executive, working with some of our most important clients.

“My experience as an intern was absolutely incredible. There is no better way to expand your skill set, experience a real work environment and gain exposure. My best advice to anyone seeking an internship is to jump in with both feet; try everything you can, and take all the feedback you can get! When you do your best to be helpful and get involved in the work, you will learn more than you ever could in any classroom.”

Yashvi Adhvaryu was with us as a marketing intern during the summers of 2021 and 2022. Now, she’s a part-time account coordinator with the agency while she finishes up her degree at UA Little Rock.

“As an intern, I was able to gain hands-on experience of what working in an agency environment feels like and how different departments work together to accomplish a successful campaign. Not only was I able to work on projects for real clients, I was able to meet them and take part in conferences.

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions to gain more knowledge or clarification because everyone is welcoming and happy to help. Further, you do not have to just stick with your department; you never truly know what you might be interested in until you give it a try! So set up meetings with any department experts that interest you and learn as much as you can.”
